This article applies to the following models: mPad+, rPad+, rPad+MX, EZ230 and EZ270
The gateways powered via USB cable can be powered through the following methods:
- USB port on a host computer
- USB Hub with and external power supply
- USB power brick
DC power is critical to the proper functioning of Identix IoT gateways. Special attention is required when the gateway is powered directly through a USB port on a host computer. These ports generally have limitations on their ability to supply electrical current properly. When the computer's USB port does not have enough power capacity and communication via the USB port is necessary, it is necessary to install a USB HUB with an external power supply to feed the gateway.
When data communications is exclusively via WiFi, it is recommended to use a dedicated USB power supply.
Below is a table with the power consumption required for each gateway model
Gateway model | RFID inventory configured at maximum output power of +23dBm | RFID inventory configured at maximum output power of +27dBm |
mPad+ | 3W - 600mA @ +5VDC | N/A |
rPad+ | 3W - 600mA @ +5VDC | N/A |
rPad+MX | 3W - 600mA @ +5VDC | 7.5W - 1.5A @ +5VDC |
EZ230 | 3W - 600mA @ +5VDC | N/A |
EZ270 | 3W - 600mA @ +5VDC | 7.5W - 1.5A @ +5VDC |
